I have a blackberry curve and need an irc client for it. I have tried jmirc but keep getting "invalid url parameter" when I try to connect to netgamers. Also have trouble using any web based client I have tried. Anyone able to help me any on this?

You tried the planetarion chat?

chat.planetarion.com ?

Its not an irc client.
But if your phone supports java it should work :)

I haven't really found proper mIRC'ish client for my Symbian based Nokia, but I have irssi running on linux, which I connect to with my mobile (putty) -> works perfect for me.

Linux mobile? is that something new?
ruxu : 2010-03-08 11:39:23
Heh, well yes there are linux mobiles too.

But I meant shell access on some linux computer (server). Where I run irssi :)

a few mobile apps:

ROOMS for the iphone rocks..
AndChat for Android OS system, BB may have it.

However if your in the US and on the verizon network, you should know that they block all the irc ports over the air, so you have to have wifi access anyway to connect, makes me mad. i will have to try the chat.planetarion.com sprit :).

Agreed. Android ftw! :P

I partly agree with you there Devlin, there still is no good "off the shelf" windows mobile, there's plenty cool mods though :D In addition I do believe WinMo is going the wrong way with it's upcoming 7 series :/ its a bit like the OS systems.., they start out rather fine and rather useful but eventually they evolve into something that looks like modern art and is equally useful :S I guess I'll try and get my hands on a heavily modded Android rom for one of my old smartphones to try it out for myself ;)

In the mean time: Thanks Auto! I guess I'll try the first one on the list unless you have one that you can particularly recommend...

I got myself a Lenovo S10-2 whit 3G modem instead, dont have to worry about IRC client then, and it's not much bigger then my cellphone either ;)
grape : 2010-03-19 10:20:53
You must have a huge cell phone... might be a good idea to get a vaio-p series instead, usable laptops dont come much smaller imo
