If you have to read this I guess you are all new to IRC so here we go :)

First of all you will need a IRC client.
Most users on IBM based computers can use mIRC so I'm going to talk about that here :)

Goto mIRC homepage and download the latest version or get it here
Install the software to your computer following the onscreen guide.

When finished you need to start the program, if you get a safety window telling you that Windows want to block IRC connection, tell them to "Unblock".
When mIRC is started you need to tell it where to find Planetarion.

Push Alt+O buttons to get the "Options" menu, there you have "Category"s on the left menu, click "Connect" submenu "Servers".
In the top "IRC Network" select 'All', in the "IRC Server" select 'Add*
In the following popup you need to enter the technical information for the server as follows...
"Description": Netgamers Random Server
"IRC Server": irc.netgamers.org
"Port(s)": 6667
"Group": Netgamers
Leave the password blank, you dont need anything there.
Click the "OK" button
Now your mIRC is set to "work" properly :=)

Next is fixing you a pnick so we kan recognize you.
Goto Netgamers homepage www.netgamers.org and register the pnick you want, or follow this link. Just follow the onscreen manual.

As soon as you got your password in a e-mail from Netgamers you need to enter this into the perform on mIRC.

Go to mIRC program.
Push alt+O buttons to get the options menu.
In the left "Category" menu select "Connections" submenu "Options".
Mark the box for "Connect on startup" and "Reconnect on disconnection"
Then push the alt+p buttons to open the "Perform" menu.
Here you need to mark the box for "Enable perform on connect"
The "Network" pull down menu goes to 'All networks'
In the "perform commands" editbox you need to add the following lines.....

/msg P@cservice.netgamers.org LOGIN "yourpnick" "yourpassword"
/mode $me +x
/j #newdawn
/j #planetarion
Push the OK button

Remember to edit the pnick and password parts
"yourpnick" is the pnick you choosed when registring at the Netgamers page earlier
"yourpassword" is the password you got in the email from Netgamers

Click OK on all open popups in mIRC, close program completely and then restart it.
Viola you should be on IRC and idling in #newdawn :p

If nothing of this worked you probably did something wrong, try again from the top or use the COM unit ingame

what happened to your mirc? maybe remove it and reinstall it, try that

That won't work, as I assume he has the trial version. Try http://www.icechat.net. Might take a little time to get used to, but it really is better than mirc, and completely free.

Older versions are better to use if you dont want to register mIRC.

i use a PC at work, and a Mac at home. I've never had irc on my Mac, any suggestions to the best irc for Mac?

I never use MAC myself, but they say Colloguy and Ircle is the best ones :p

Im using Rooms for my Iphon4 for IRC. It keeps crashing when i try to conect. Anyone else having the same problems or can help me with this?

try ircle. its virtually the same as mirc for PC
